What is a Canned job?

A Work order is a collection of items at a preset quantity and price. At least that's the general technical explanation.

Think of it more like the combo menu at a fast food restaurant a Number (4) is going to have a burger fries and a drink but you're still being charged an individual price, with individual margins on each item just all at once which goes from 1+3+4 dollars to 8 dollars. The same concept applies here but with your services, the only difference, is that you have an expectation of time v price that you're charging the customer for your "items".

So let's unpack a real life detailing example:

> Let's say a gold package in my shop takes 7 hours to complete (on a sedan) But I charge for 8 as a buffer should jobs run long.

> Let's say that my all in cost of the materials to complete a gold package including all my coating materials towels and utilities like water costs me about $150

>Let's say that I presently charge 1200 dollars for the gold package (without paint correction)

Ok from these assumptions you have everything you need to set up a canned job

8 hours divided by 1200 = 150 so your labor rate is $150  hr.

> This is important because if the job takes longer you can simply adjust your quantity up or maybe down to deal with accurate pricing that keeps your margins the same whether it's 30 minutes to 30 hours.

So this canned job would look like

Sedan Gold package

Service line 8 x 150

Product line 1 x 150

Now lets say we add $50 to our product price to go over cost and make a bit of profit to offset potential product loss.

Now we sit at:

8 x 150 = 1200

1 x 200 = 200

My out the door price for my Gold package is now 1400 and I can bring this up instantly by puling up a canned job.

Now Let's see it in action.

And like that any time I have a gold package for a sedan I can simply pull it up at the exact correct price with no need for guessing or estimating.
